Barcelona, 11 January 2008. - The firm Ros Roca EE (Environmental Engineering) has signed a cooperation agreement with the University of Barcelona (UB) in order to develop R&D&I projects related to the anaerobic digestion of waste products. Through this new agreement, which will last three years, the Environmental Biotechnology Group at the UB will provide Ros Roca EE with a research team, as well as use of their installations and scientific equipment.
The representatives who signed the agreement are Dr. Joan Mata Álvarez, senior professor in the Chemical Engineering Department of the University of Barcelona and in charge of the technical aspects of the agreement on behalf of the UB; Dr. Claudi Mans, chair of the Chemical Engineering Department; Ms. Maria Carmen Verdaguer, General Manager of the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation; and Mr. Joan Molins, General Coordinator at Ros Roca EE. Other members of the firm involved in the agreement and signing were Joan Hierro, Manager of the Technology Transfer Department and Dr. Francina Solé, leader of Ros Roca EE’s R&D&I team.
Ros Roca EE designs, builds, and provides start-up services for Methanization Plants, Compost Plants, Porcine waste treatment centers and Incineration Plants, among others. The firm has model plants at its disposal throughout Europe and is currently expanding operations to other continents, such as the Americas.
The Bosch i Gimpera Foundation’s non-profit participation in this agreement has as its objective the promotion and support of agreements between both public and private entities and departments at the UB.
