On 26th April was inaugurated the largest biogas plant in Luxembourg, designed and built by Ros Roca envirotec. The plant is located in Kielen and will treat approximately 50.000 tonnes/year of biomass from agriculture and municipal and commercial organic waste. The produced biogas is cleaned and, after removal of CO2, injected as green gas into the existing natural gas grid. This is the most efficient way of biogas utilization.
More than 400 guests participated in the inauguration ceremony, among them the Grand Duke Henri from Luxemburg; the minister for agriculture, Romain Schneider; the deputy minister for development and infrastructure, Marco Schank; and numerous representatives from politic, administration and economy. The guests at the event had the opportunity to visit the new biogas and biogas upgrading plant.
